Wind Gong – 95cm Yinyang
$1,170.00 – $1,200.00 (includes GST)
Wind gongs (also known as Feng or Lion Gongs) are flat bronze discs, with little fundamental pitch, heavy tuned overtones, and long sustain.
As they are flatter in shape and lighter than Chau gongs, they can play just by the wind blowing against it. These gongs feature the Yin and Yang, a Chinese Taoist concept that describes how opposing forces are actually complementary. In yin there is yang, and in yang exists yin.
Each gong has its own extraordinary and particular sound character. When struck, the vibrations can be felt without even touching the gong, physically effecting your whole being.
Description
The Chinese people have used gongs as a ritual instrument for thousands of years.
This gong is crafted from one cast piece, hand-hammered using century-old traditions. The unique sound of each style of gong is used to signify a different kind of event. The Wind Gong is traditionally used for healing and for the lion dance. It has a crescendo and sustained sound like the wind, hence the name.
The vibrations of the gong can be felt without even touching it, physically effecting the whole body as the vibrations penetrate our entire being. The sound is intriguing for people with and without special needs. When the gong is struck with a gap between strikes, it creates a relaxed, meditative energy to whoever hears it.
These gongs feature the Yin and Yang symbol, a Chinese Taoist concept that describes how opposing forces are actually complementary. In yin there is yang, and in yang exists yin.
Made of bronze, the wind gong is traditionally played with a large soft mallet.
It is available in three sizes:
- 95cm diameter
- 70cm diameter
The 95cm and 70cm wind gong comes with a black powder-coated steel stand. You can select from a Square Stand or a C-Stand.
The 95cm wind gong weighs 10 kg and the stand weighs 5kg.
