Sibling Workshops
The aim of the sibling workshops is to give the opportunity for students with special needs to play music with their siblings and other family members. Extending the musical experience with siblings assists students with special needs to socialise and engage with their siblings or relatives in a fun and creative way.
During these workshop, students ‘drum’ with their siblings, focusing on rhythmic exercises. It is a fun way to learn skills such as maintaining focus, using memory, turn taking, spatial awareness, fine and gross motor coordination, following instructions and communication. The workshops incorporate drumming, dancing and finish off with some relaxing didgeridoo. These workshops are a rewarding way to learn with the people who are special to them. Playing music together is such a great way to enjoy time with family members!
