A wonderful gift for The Rhythm Village and Bates Drive Public School
Last Thursday 21st May, The Rhythm Village were invited to an official cheque presentation event at Sydney Airport. The Airport raised a record $263,000 for Variety – the Children’s Charity, to help Aussie kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs, along with their families.
Variety distribute the funds to a number of deserving recipients, one of which was providing students with special needs from Bates Drive Public School in Kareela with a term of music workshops from The Rhythm Village .
Bates Drive Principal Robyn Compton said the funds would make a real difference to the students of the school and their families.
“The musical therapy program provides our students with special needs with the opportunity to participate, engage and interact through the joy of musical drumming for the first time,” Ms Compton said.
A great morning was had by all, as after the cheque presentation, 10 Bates Drive students with special needs, aged from 8 to 18 years old, participated in a short Rhythm Village music workshop to get a taste of what is to come next term.
Thanks Sydney Airport and Variety for making this possible for Bates Drive Public School and The Rhythm Village!
