This course introduces teachers to the use of music in the classroom and aims to equip teachers with many practical musical tools that they can call on, as needed, for students best learning outcomes.

1) Overview of Why we use Music in the Special Education Classroom 

This course offers an overview of the benefits of music for learning for students with special needs.

It explores current research and offers opportunities to work together to see the importance of music for Engagement, Accessibility and Creativity.

2) Using Engaging Music Techniques to Teach

This course explores using music to engage students in learning. It looks at various drumming techniques, to empower teachers to use drumming as a tool for teaching. It also focuses on using music to teach the Key Learning Area (KLA) Geography.

3) Using Accessible and Creative Music Techniques to Teach

This course explores using music as an accessible and creative medium to teach students in the special ed classroom. It explores the various instruments and technologies that allow music to be accessed by all students of all abilities. This course also illustrates that because music has no boundaries when it comes to creativity, it is the perfect tool for students with special needs to express themselves creatively.

4) Using music to teach MATHEMATICS

This course explores using music to teach mathematics to your student’s abilities. It explores different ideas and concepts to help teachers to use music to teach math, including the concepts of counting, sequencing of numbers, odd and even numbers and more.

5) Using music to teach GEOGRAPHY

This course explores using music to teach geography.   It provides concrete ideas for your students to learn the concepts of geography through music.

6) Using music to teach PDHPE

This course looks at ways of using music to teach PDHPE. It covers a range of music-related physical activities that are engaging and also provide well-being outcomes.

7) Using music to teach Science

This course offers concrete ways of teaching Science using music as the tool to deliver these learning outcomes.

8) Using using music to teach the Creative Arts

This course explores how to incorporate music into drama and art.  It also provides explanations and lessons about the basics of music.

9) Using music for Well-being

This course explores well-being for teachers and SLSOs as well as student well-being. It will discuss the five key elements of the Well-being Framework and provide ways of using music to achieve a sense of well-being.

10) Using music for Team Building

Using interactive drumming and percussion with your team, this course draws on analogies that directly relate to theories about creating and maintaining a high performing team.
